ABOUT KIDZ' N GRIEF… We provide concurrent grief support groups for children ages 3 - 18 who have lost love ones to death. Therapists believe that children know how to process their grief if they are in a safe, supportive environment with other children in the same circumstance. Kidz'nGrief is modeled after the Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon, founded 30 years ago by a pediatric nurse.
Kidz'nGrief does not provide psychotherapy, but offers support through art, games, stories, play and other activities which promote expression of feelings and thoughts, thus helping children adjust to the physical loss of their loved one.
MISSION STATEMENT: Because we believe that grief is a normal response to death and loss, we will provide a safe place for children to process their grief by sharing their stories with other grieving children, facilitated by caring, trained adults.
